Job Responsibilities:

Position Purpose:
Performs complex (journey-level) analytical work.  Applies statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical and qualitative data to provide usable information.  Collaborates with other analysts to complete all stages of analysis (design, analysis, and reporting) for assigned project.  Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. 

Essential Responsibilities:
• Defines data requirements.
• Analyzes program data using relational database and statistical software (primarily SAS).
• Designs, produces, analyzes and debugs routine data reports. Some reports are produced in Microsoft Access and use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
• Reports results of statistical analyses (i.e. graphs, charts, tables, written reports).
• Researches contents, limitations, and potential uses of all available data sets relevant to assigned task areas.
• Develops documentation for all analyses to include storage location of all files (i.e., program code, data sets, output); thoroughly documents program code and monitors use of disk storage, archiving data sets when not in use.
• Develops measures to assess contract performance in assigned task areas, and makes changes to those measures as required with contract modifications.
• Collaborates with others in the organization to ensure successful implementation of chosen problem solutions.
• Collaborates with other members of the Analytic group by checking program code for adherence to specifications and checking output for correct results.
• Provides technical support to customers including answering questions, trouble-shooting problems and assisting in modification of program code.
• May review sampling and extrapolation methodologies employed by other contractors to determine if analyses were appropriate, correct, and replicable.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
 
Education
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in statistics, economics, or a natural science and nine hours of graduate level courses in statistics OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, economics, or a natural science

Experience
• Three (3) years analyzing data using SAS statistical software package
• Three (3) years conducting complex analyses of health care claims, medical records, or enrollment data
• SAS programming, preferred
• Visual Basic programming language, preferred
• Microsoft Access, preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work Environment
Requires working in an office/cubicle environment; sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting and/or reaching. Requires repetitive movement; ability to lift, carry or move up to 25 lbs. when transporting work equipment or materials.  May require ability to operate a motor vehicle; the ability to travel by motor vehicle and commercial airline.  May require overnight travel.
